Diani Beach | Mombasa

  • DIANI BEACH | MOMBASA.

Diani Beach is an exquisite tropical paradise on the Kenyan coast that offers a perfect retreat after an adventurous safari. The beach's pristine white sands stretch out into the warm turquoise waters, while the palm-lined streets and beach resorts provide guests with a serene and relaxing environment. Our beach packages include various activities such as swimming, kitesurfing, snorkeling, and fishing, all with the stunning backdrop of the Kenyan coastline.

Situated at the border of the African continent and the vast Indian Ocean, Diani Beach is located 30km south of Mombasa. It is a dream destination for anyone seeking a tropical getaway. The rolling white sands provide the perfect base for sunbathing, while the crystal-clear waters offer an incredible opportunity to discover the underwater world through snorkeling and diving.

The beach is also home to diverse wildlife, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. It's no surprise that Diani Beach has been voted the best beach destination in Africa for five consecutive years.

Our diving excursions allow you to explore the marine park and come face-to-face with over 500 fish species and sharks in a controlled environment. Additionally, you can choose from various bottom boat marine safaris and dhow rides. We have designed some tour ideas with itineraries to inspire you where to start. However, our expert team can help craft the perfect itinerary to suit your needs.

Other destinations along the coast of Mombasa where you can sample marine life include Wasini Island, Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park, and Arabuko Sokoke Forest, among others.

    ACTIVITIES:

    - Diving, snorkeling, and water sports: Diani Beach offers an incredible range of water sports, including kayaking, jet-skiing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddleboarding, and scuba-diving. There is something for everyone, regardless of your pace or skill level.

    - Snorkeling and diving: Marine parks are the best places to visit and engage in snorkeling and diving. They are areas of protected waters that conserve marine life and the ecosystem. Kenya's marine park is unique because it allows visitors to see reef sharks frequently. While exploring the waters, you will likely find the endangered Green and Hawksbill turtles.

    OTHER ACTIVITIES:

    - Sky Diving: Visitors can see the landscape from a bird's-eye view at 12,000 feet by skydiving over Diani Beach. The beach has become a prominent attraction offering some of the finest scenery in the world.

    - Deep-Sea Fishing: The best time to take this trip is between September and April if you want to spot most of the fish. However, the availability of fish depends on the season, temperature, and bait used.

    - Glass Boat Tours: These are day-outs for those who prefer to stay dry but still want to experience the vast water ecosystem. When you sail on a glass-bottom boat, you will see a wide variety of colorful fish swimming beneath you. Guides will teach you about marine life and the local myths of the Indian Ocean.

    WILDLIFE:

Diani has more than just stunning beaches. The area is home to the five main species of primates, including the yellow baboon, the Angolan Colobus, the vervet monkey, the Sykes monkey, and bush babies. Diani has over 400 Angolan Colobus, making it one of the country's highest concentrations of such primates. You will also find other marine life, such as dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, and whales, often spotted in the deep blue waters off the Kenyan coast.

    WHEN TO VISIT DIANI BEACH:

Diani is best visited between December and March and June to September. The weather is perfect during these months, with little rain and hot, sunny weather. The Indian Ocean is warm all year round, with the water temperature ranging from 26°C to 29°C. The beach is an all-year-round destination, with something to offer at any time of the year.

HOW TO GET TO DIANI BEACH:

The best way to get to Diani Beach is by flying from Nairobi Wilson Airport to the Diani Airstrip, a fast and affordable option. The other option is to fly from Nairobi's International Airport to Mombasa and then take a taxi to Diani Beach. The third option is the Nairobi-Mombasa express train, which offers a scenic train ride along the coast with a stop at Diani Beach.

Occupying a large, modern house in modest grounds, it’s billed as an exclusive hotel with a ‘unique and eclectic’ style.

This is a European-flavoured, boutique hotel. We were expecting something more stylish and distinctive, with a real combination of African character and modern flair, but our impression was of a pleasant, luxury, beachfront guesthouse.
