Nairobi, a capital city, is unique in having a wildlife park ( nearly 117 sq. Km) on it's doorstep. The park hosts both resident and migratory wildlife, so a visit at any time of the year is rewarding. With exception of the elephant you will find the rest of the big 5 together with multitude of other creatures. As you move through the shady riverine forest trails adjacent to River Athi, you will see varieties of birds, aquatic animals as well as terrestrial inhabitants like monkeys.
With the park being a designated rhino sanctuary, you will also find more than 5o rhinos which have been relocated from remote parks where poaching was rife.
Pass through the magnificent scenery in the south western boundary of the park to see the steep valleys created by the streams joining Athi River. You will find plentiful of hyrax on the rocks and the sure-sighted will spot klipspringer.
You can also visit animal orphanage near the park's main gate. Rather than a home for the lost and lame, its is maintained for local visitors who are unable to visit the park unlike the foreign tourist who are unable to reconcile with caging animals within animal park
