4 Days 3 nights Masai Mara Budget Safaris Package

  • Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari.

The Mara River crossing (which occurs between Mid-June and late July), is just one part of the circular movement of the migrating flock.

    • Masai Mara wildebeest migration is so spectacular that in 2007, it clinched a spot on the list of ‘8 wonders of the World’.
    • It is also celebrated as the largest overland migration on earth.
    • Contrary to popular belief, the Masai Mara wildebeest migration is not a single crossing but a circular and endless event. The animals are always moving (in a cyclical route) across the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara Game reserve in Kenya. In total, the migrating herd covers a distance of over 3000 kilometers.
    • Behold the breathtaking sprawling landscape with sparse acacia shrubs and diverse animals, the predators and grazers, bird life among other small crawling creatures.
    • After the crossing, the herd stays in the Masai Mara game reserve till early November. They then cross over to the Serengeti and continue with the circular movement, only to do the Mara river crossing again the following year.
    • What better way to experience the Maasai Mara than to take a hot air balloon safari. Gliding silently over the savannah, is 360 degrees of spectacular beauty!.
    • Experience a fantastic 3-day private safari to Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve, one of Africa’s best game viewing destinations!
    • Experience the thrill within as you get a first hand experience of the majestic lions, leopards and cheetah as they hunt until your adrenaline kicks in
    • Bring to life the experience of seeing the one of the greatest attractions in Masai Mara, Wildebeest migration, and stop 'hearing' and make it a 'reality'.
    • It’s the single point destination in the entire world to experience such an immense volume of animals movement. You will be glaring at over 2 Million animals from Serengeti National park in Tanzania to the greener pastures of the Masai Mara National reserve in Kenya during the months of July through to October.
    • Stroll on the great savannah plain to witness the sun gently go down with its golden lights setting over the horizon in a spectacular sundowner setting
    • Lounge on the hot air safari balloon and take in the sliding views underneath, as you cruise through the beautiful Savanah giving you a premium position to virtually find all the animals which are otherwise hard to track on game drive.
    • Enjoy an 8-hour tour of family game drive and visit to Masai village and learn their way of life as well as how they coexist with wild animals

If you have more time to spend in Kenya, we can add the best beaches in Kenya such as Diani beach (voted the best beach in Africa for 6 years since 2014 by the World Travel Awards).

Without further ado, here is the summarized, 4 days, Masai Mara wildebeest migration package:

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi/ Flight or Trip to Mara / Bush Dinner.

One of our dedicated safari guide will be at the airport an hour to your designated arrival time to formally welcome you to Kenya.

You will then head to Wilson airport for the forty-five-minute flight to the Mara. This will ease your time of travel, though it doesn't compromise on the view as compared to over the land.

Alternatively, we have plans in place for a road trip to the Masai Mara using our luxurious 4×4 safari land cruiser.

    0700 Hrs: Departure from Nairobi.

While travelling on the road, we will depart Nairobi and drive down the Eastern Escarpment of the Great Rift Valley with beautiful views of Mount Longonot (an extinct volcano) and the Great Rift Valley. We shall have a brief stop-over at the great Rift Valley viewpoint for breathtaking views.

    About The Great Rift Valley.

Formed some five million years ago, the rift cuts through Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia on its way from the Red Sea. It is a 7,000 long continuous geographic trench that runs from Lebanon all the way to Mozambique.

The area is ripe with volcanic activities. Among the notable ones includes bubbling geysers, hot springs, lakes, and even Mt. Suswa as you cast your eyes over the plains.

After this short 15 Minutes break, we shall then resume our journey and travel for another 3 hours to Narok town, where we shall stopover for any last-minute shopping you may wish to do.

From there we shall drop into the Mara, whereupon check-in, we shall leave you to refresh and have lunch.

The animals you are likely to encounter include Lions, Giraffes, Buffalo, Elephant, Hippos, Zebra, and of course, lots of wildebeests!

1200: Hrs On arrival you will be received by our Staff in the Lodge and then check in.

    Maasai Mara Insight.

Maasai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves.

This Reserve is known for its spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration and its home to the Big Five, that is, Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino and stunning sunsets. Arrive in time for lunch at the camp.

Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq. km (580 sq. miles) and raises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level.

Add the conservancies and the area is at least twice the size. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and over 570 recorded species of birds. The park is well endowed with literally all the wildlife game one would want to see during an African safari, from big prides of lions, to large herds of elephants, extremely large herds of wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, baboons, hartebeests, hippos etc along several birds species.)

The Maasai Mara Ecosystem holds one of the highest lion densities in world and this is where over two Million Wildebeest, Zebra and Thompsons Gazelle migrate annually. Its hosts over 95 species of mammals and 570 recorded species of birds.

This is considered the 7th wonder of the new world. Wildebeest Migration. Famous for the the Great Wildebeest Migration where over 1 million wildebeest and Zebras follow an annual migratory route from and to Serengeti to Maasai Mara, it is without a doubt one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations. The wildebeest migration is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have do add to your bucket list.

Best time to be in Kenya for it is JULY - OCTOBER although Kenya is a great year round destination.

1600 Hrs: There after leave for about 2hours late afternoon game drive which will unfold to you the beauty of the African Sunset. Return back to the camp for a sumptuous buffet dinner and accommodation at Mara Simba Lodge or Similar

Dinner and overnight at the Camp /Lodge

Stay overnight in your well accommodating room/ tent which has a bed, linen, shower, and toilet inside. Mosquito nets and a hot shower in the evening are provided.

Day 2: Exclusive Game drive viewing in Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Early morning breakfast then depart for a morning game drive when the Mara cats are vicious then; the easiest to spot being the lions, the cheetahs, the big 5, and the over 99 mammal and reptile species that reside in the Mara.

We will drive far and wide into the plain grassland, heading east to the sandy thickets of Ngama Hills for the black rhinos and west for the grass and acacia woodlands of the Mara.

The heart of the Mara presents an ironic twist, for despite it being the most densely populated part of the park, it records the least number of visitors.

The view from here is brilliant, the cherry on top being the Mara River which is the biggest barrier for the migrating herd. This part of the Mara is unspoiled, serene, and undoubtedly the best part of our Maasai Mara migration safari trip.

Our packed lunch shall be by the breathtaking grasslands and acacia woodlands characteristic of the Central Plains.

Our evening game drive shall take us west, across the Mara’s Central plains. Herbivores such as zebras, elands, giraffes, topi, wildebeests, impalas, gazelles, and warthogs are among the animals you can expect to see.

Have picnic lunch by Mara River then proceed for an afternoon game drive whereby there will be an optional opportunity to visit Maasai village and have a glimpse of their centuries’ old traditional way of life, social structures and culture. Dinner and overnight stay at the Camp.

Dinner and accommodation at Lodge / Camp.

Day 3: Masai Mara Full Day Game Drive.

In the Mara, two similar Mara Game drives are a myth, and that is why we go for yet another game drive on day 3 of this Kenya Migration safari package. Our goal is to look out for some of the animals you might have missed on your previous game drives.

Photographers are allowed one-on-one with the wildlife, while the birders are taken to spots where the birds are in their highest numbers.

Our game drives end at dusk, but not before a bush dinner complemented with a glass of wine.

In the morning, we shall head for the Mara River, hoping to catch the dawn Mara crossing in full swing!

On this particular trip, we shall be armed with a picnic lunch and head out at exactly 6.15 am for optimal viewing of the dramatic crossing.

Dinner and accommodation at Lodge / Camp.

Day 4: Masai Village Visit – Drive back to Nairobi

As our Masai Mara escapades draw to a close, we shall have an early breakfast and then check out with our bags by 6.15 am.

But why the early morning? you may wonder… Well, we wrap up our trips to the Mara nicely with one last morning game drive, after which we head to the Masai village at around 10 am.

We are always in the mood for a little chit-chat and culture right? A Masai village visit is a chance to experience the Masai peoples’ rich cultural heritage. The Masai are one of the few communities in Africa that have fully managed to conserve their incredible cultural heritage.

The Mara gets its name from the Maasai people, a community popular for its surprising coexistence with the Mara wild.

Beads, Mara paintings, and pottery are excellent accessories for your home. Do get involved in some Masai cultural dances before heading back home.

After the Masai village tour, depending on your travel arrangements, we shall head back to Nairobi for your return trip.
