Visit Aberdare National park for the spectacular waterfalls and rain forests where you will discover the diverse topography that includes icy rivers, elephant swimming pools and other adrenaline rush activities like ziplining, thanks to our local guides.

You will also get the chance to enjoy the sight of Leopard, elephant, serval, waterbuck, reedbuck, dik dik, rhino and the rare bongo which are all be found here. Excite your eyes with the view of thousands of flamingoes as they feed on the banks of lake Nakuru forming a flamboyance of pink colorations along the banks.

Itinerary

Day 1.

0800hrs: Pick up from the hotel/airport and drive to Aberdares National park at Aberdare Country club.

Aberdare National Park Highlights. Aberdare National Park is characterized by picturesque, steep forested ravines and open moorland.

It provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks among others.

Rare sightings include those of the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat and the blue duiker. You can indulge in picnics, trout fishing in the rivers and camping in the moorlands.

Bird viewing is rewarding, with over 250 species of birds in the park, including the Jackson's Francolin, Sparrow hawks, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds and plovers.

1230 hrs: Arrive at Aberdare Country Club.

Experience the beauty of Aberdare Country Club which is nestled on a slope of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands, as you enjoy lunch and drop excess luggage.

After lunch drive through the forest to reach your tree hotel (the Ark)where the night is spent watching the never ending pageant of wildlife which visits the floodlit waterhole and saltlick below.

The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife. Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark comprises of three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen.

The Ark has four viewing areas for observing the ever-present animal activity. Later in the afternoon transfer to the booked overnight lodge.

Day 2: Aberdare - Lake Nakuru National Park

Have an early morning breakfast at the lodge before you begin your days expeditions.

Cross the tip of the Aberdare Mountains before you stop briefly to admire 73m plunge of Thompson’s Falls, which is named after the Scots explorer who first saw the Falls in 1884.

You will yet again take another stop at the Equator. Your tour guide will amaze you by the few fact finding activities he will take you through, which will make equator a memorable spot to remember.

Arrive in time for lunch at Sarova Lion hill Game Lodge Lodge.

About Lake Nakuru National Park.

This is a shallow soda lake famous for its flamingos but has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here.

The nearby cliffs offer sightings of baboons, birds of prey and scurrying hyraxes, as well as great views of the park. The national park covers 180 sq. km and is home to warthogs, water buck, buffaloes, reed bucks, and the occasional leopard as well as white and black rhinos which were introduced to the park some years ago.

Afternoon game drive and visit to Lake Nakuru National Park where the sight of flamingos cannot be forgotten. Dinner and overnight at Flamingo Hill Luxury Tented Camp /Jarika County Lodge.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru- Maasai Mara National reserve

Have an early breakfast before we depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve which is 259 km south along the floor of the great rift valley.

We will then drive past Narok and climb the western wall before we enter Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch.

About Masai Mara.

Masai Mara reserve expands to 1510 sq. km and raises from 1500 meters to 2170 m above sea level and one of the greatest African wildlife view point explaining why it receives a huge fractions of visitors through the year.

The Reserve is well endowed with literally all the wildlife game one would want to see during an African safari, from big prides of lions, to large herds of elephants, extremely large herds of wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos, baboons, hartebeests, hippos etc. along several birds species.)

This Reserve is known for its spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration and its home to the Big Five, that is, Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino and stunning sunsets. Afternoon enjoy a game drive in this famous reserve. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 4: Maasai Mara National Reserve full day game drive

0630 hrs. Early morning game drive in the Mara. Later, return to the lodge for breakfast. Rest of the morning at leisure. Engage in a full day game drive at this famous reserve searching for wild game with an option to enjoy a balloon safari ( optional balloon ride- at an extra cost with pick up from the lodge at 0500hrs)

You can carry picnic lunch or have lunch at the lodge. Throughout the park, you are likely to find Lions, elephants, giraffes, and a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino.

The annual wildebeest migration, one of nature's few remaining wildlife spectacles, occurs in the Mara from July to October making the presence of the predators to become abundantly obvious.

Masai Mara is also a home to several species of birds which are easily visible as you drive along the short acacias and more so in the water pools inside the park.

Return to the lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight at either Mara Sopa Lodge/Keekorok Lodge/Mara Leisure Camp/Mara Serena Lodge or similar. Mara Chui Camp

Day 5: Departure

Early morning game drive and have breakfast at the Enkorok Mara camp. Depart for Nairobi. A stop over is provided at Narok Town to browse in the bustling, vibrant Masai markets to buy curios and handicrafts.

On arrival in Nairobi, drop off at the airport for your departure flight or transfer to a city hotel where the safari ends
