- Where cancellation is requested more than 48 hours before the event date, a 50% refund of the booking confirmation deposit will be issued.

- The excess paid above the booking confirmation deposit will be refunded in full.

- Where cancellation is requested 48 hours or less before the event date, no refund will be issued on the booking confirmation deposit.

7:00am - Meet and assemble at Kencom for briefing and utilize the moment to buy some snacks and drinks for around 45 Minutes.

7:45 am - We depart to our destination while we enjoy scenic views taking us about an hour to reach Kimende and eventual arrival to Kereita forest through the Carbacid Gate.

ABOUT KEREITA FOREST.

Kereita forest is Located in Lari Kiambu County, Kimende area near Kijabe, about 60 km from Nairobi.

The forest is a must-visit location for a day trip and hike lovers.

Kereita is a settlement in Kenya's Central Province a few kilometers from Kimende town, maintained by Kijabe Environment Volunteers (KENVO).

Kereita Forest offers action-packed adventures which include activities such as ziplining, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, archery, foot golf, and paintball - all within the heart of the Aberdare Mountain range.

Nothing beats a day filled with adrenaline rush in such a serene and pristine area, as you fly over the forest at a speed of 60km/hr. enjoying the view of the tree canopy under you.

These are complimented with great team-building events for the whole family making the destination a favorite choice if you are looking for a family day full of fun away from town.

The Forest Zip lines are built and operated to the highest international safety standards by Flying Fox, Asia’s leading zip tour operator, a reason to feel safe and secure when experiencing the action.

Enjoy a short rest and walk to the Carbacid forest gate as an alternative trail which though climbing out leads you eventually to the forest gate exit.

16:30 pm - Depart for Nairobi drive lasting 1 hour, as such arriving in Nairobi at 17:30 pm assuming there is no slowing traffic.

17:30 pm - Drop off at the same point of picking.

NOTES:

- Please be punctual;

- Latecomers will be left behind and forfeit the entire amount paid up.

- Thika Road pickups should make arrangements with the team lead by 8 p.m. on the eve of the event.

- Pickup stops will be no longer than 5 minutes.

- There will be no shopping stops in the morning.

- Please stock your supplies by the eve of the event.

- Please adhere to the set turn-back time.

- Punctual departure for Nairobi means everyone gets back to Nairobi before curfew.

How to prepare for the hike.

Engage in active cardio exercises such as aerobics, walking, running, cycling, and swimming among others the week prior to the event.
Set aside the day before the hike for resting -- take a break from exercises.
Increase your hydration by at least two days to the hike.
Purpose to get enough rest the night before the hike.
Increase your carbohydrate intake two days before the hike - this helps boost your energy reserves.
If on intermittent fasting or on a diet, take a break in the period one day before and after the hike.
Cut your toe nails, please, cut your toe nails!
Have a generous breakfast before stepping out of the house -- or at least 3 hours before the start of the event.
This ensures that most of the food has been digested by the time you begin the hike, giving you the much-needed energy while ensuring your stomach is not too full for comfort.
Use the bathroom before leaving the house.
This avoids unnecessary bathroom breaks on the commute and during the hike.
Set your mind up for conquering yourself. Hiking is 90% mindset, 10% physical preparation.
Once you win the battle in your mind, everything else contributes less than 10%. You can do it!

The Kereita Forest is located at the southern end of Aberdare ridges with indeed very interesting hiking trails and natural features like Water falls and Caves.The Carbacid trails leads to Kereita waterfalls in Gatamaiyu river and the adjacent cave which is the preferred home to a colony of small bats.
