17-Days 16 nights Wildebeest, Balloon Tour & Diani Beach Holiday

  • 17-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari: Wildebeest Migration, Hot Air Balloon Ride & Diani Beach Escape

This 17-day package suits groups, families, vacation & holiday revelers, and animal lovers. You will visit the magnificent Victoria Falls in Zambia and a few selected parks in Kenya for their unique features.
Enjoy a guided tour of the Falls, and pick from the many (included) activities such as canoeing, fishing, a village visit, and a sundowner cruise. Visit Nairobi's David Sheldrick to watch the orphaned baby elephants feed and play, feed the giraffes at the Giraffe Center, and watch women artisans making unique bead products, Kazuri Beads.
Soon, you get to Masai Mara, one of Africa's most famous parks, where wildlife viewing is superb throughout the year. The grassy plains and regular rainfall support a massive population of herbivores, attracting many predators. All three big cats (lion, leopard, and Cheetah) are relatively easy to spot.
The yearly wildebeest migration coming through the park is one of the world's most amazing wildlife spectacles, and you would not want to miss it.
    We will, after that, go to Tsavo East National Park, the vast, semi-arid wilderness home to most safari animals. It's ideal for;

    - Good wildlife viewing with all of the Big Five present.
    - Excellent birding with many dry-country specials.
    - Great wilderness appeal with off-the-beaten-track options.
    - Beautiful landscape with scenic landmarks like the Galana River, Aruba dam, Mudanda rock, the longest lava flow in the world.
    - Luggard's Falls and Taita Hills
You will then be winding up in Coastline at Diani to enjoy the white sandy beach. You will have a visit for a day's town tour and an excursion to Wasini island to get close and candid with Dolphins and snorkel in the clear sea water to see the corals.
After that, we shall tour the island to learn about the tradition, culture, and their way of living.
And finally, get back to Nairobi for a day or two to rewind and shop in the Masai Market before the flight back home.

DAY 1: VICTORIA FALLS – EASY TRANSFER TO THE ZAMBEZI RIVER AND A SUNSET CRUISE.

Arrive in Livingstone (Through Harry Mwanga International Airport).

By 9h15, you will have landed at Livingstone Airport. Within the next hour, you will have left the airport and driven along the Zambezi River for lunch at Golden Leaf Indian Restaurant. Thereafter, in the afternoon, you will arrive and check in at Avani Victoria Falls Resort.

Standing over the river, close enough to hear the rumble of Victoria Falls, this five-star Resort provides a private space of luxury for exploring another African icon.

      Avani Victoria Falls Resort Highlights.
Avani Resort boasts of its proximity to the actual waterfall itself. The location in relation to Victoria Falls is most advantageous, and guests at Avani can visit the falls as often as they like without paying the National Parks fees.

At 16h00, you will embark on a 2-hour sunset boat cruise on the Lion King boat.

Adventure Highlight:  Witnessing one of the Seven Natural Wonders from both land and air
You will be picked up from the hotel's helipad, the propellers whirling as you rise above the Zambezi River.

You will soar over the mile-wide sheet of water, descending for over 100 meters before rising back up in swirls of mist that fill Victoria Falls with enchantment.

The helicopter flies and follows the gorge eastward before returning to the Falls to drop you down. The propellers will stop, and another sound will take over that convinces you why the locals call this Mosi oa Tunya -  the smoke that thunders.

You will walk alongside the raw power of the falls, wandering a trail dotted with baboons. Through the trees, you will get a close-up of the cascade that rumbles insatiably as it soaks you to the skin. The spray comes down hard and will cause you to run across the trail.

While the Victoria Falls' aesthetics are inspiring, the power of the falls will prove unforgettable.

The spray rains down, and you cannot escape it. Much like on safari, you are completely immersed in everything this natural theater is about. After your guided walk along the falls, you can cross the bridge into Zimbabwe and see them from the other side.

      - Full-Day Migration Tour (with picnic lunch):
      - July-Oct: Witness river crossings at the Mara River
      - Nov-Feb: See giant herds on the plains

Every June and July, over a million wildebeest and zebra make their famous Mara River crossing to swap the Serengeti for the Masai Mara. From June to September, the Mara plains flood with this influx of herds. But this is a place of mammal abundance all year round, as not all wildebeest and zebra migrate.

Most big cats stay put and protect their territory while awaiting the bounty. Whenever you visit this famous reserve, you are guaranteed to see galloping herds of wildebeest, mass groups of zebra, and a wide variety of predators.

On this day, you will go on a full-day game drive to seek out the parts of the Masai Mara where most animals congregate. On open grasslands, you will see a leopard out hunting as it hides in the grass before it strikes a Thomson's gazelle herd. Drive onwards until buffalo block the trail; you must wait for them to pass.

Next, you will see elephant bulls roaming freely in the trees and crashing against the branches as a baboon troop shouts. Move next to the Mara River to stop for a picnic with a prime view of the bathing hippos.

Continue across the plains to a lion pride, which rests with bloated bellies, and then to the iconic sight of the big herds as thousands of mammals graze together against a backdrop of predatory fear. One full-day game drive is a perfect way to see these incredible sights and begin to grasp just how big this landscape is.

It would be best if you were arriving at Shimoni Jet around 8:30 a.m. Before you board an Arabic private dhow, sail for one hour searching for dolphins. Walk down the Shimoni Caves, known as slave storage during the slave trade era in Kenya.
Sail to Kisite Marine National Park, where you can snorkel and swim. Snorkeling gear is ideal for those who cannot swim. Similarly, our skilled guides will provide floaters and help you quickly navigate.
After a fantastic experience and 2 hours of swimming, we head to Wasini Island, where local Swahili food will be served, with due consideration for the vegetarian menu. This is well-planned.
Take an afternoon walk on the Island and learn the culture of the local community and their way of life from farming, fishing, and trade. Sail back to the mainland for your transfer back to Mombasa.
In the 10th century, Arabs were slave traders who used to intermarry with the Bantus at the coast, where we had the Swahili people.
After the end of the slave trade in the 17th century, many Africans settled here. You will arrive at the jet around 4:00 p.m. and return to the hotel. Leading Destination: Wasini Island (Island)

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
Your travel Manager usually handles most of your planning and preparation, but apparently, you are personally advised to know that there are a few peculiar things you must address to ensure your comfort, safety, and peace of mind. Please read through to identify the completeness of your checklist to avoid hiccups in your trip.

      VISA & PASSPORT

Find out the countries you are traveling to if they require a Visa; if so, do you have it ready? Also, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.

Please click here for assistance in applying for a U.S. Passport and relevant processing services.

CLICK HERE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT PASSPORT AND VISA REQUIREMENTS.

      Visa:
Most visas are best obtained before traveling to your destination. Therefore, you should make prior arrangements with the appropriate foreign consular representative to allow enough time between processing and the travel date.

Entry Requirements for U.S. Passport Holders.
For details on various countries based on the U.S. State Department information, please check with the consular office of the countries you plan to visit/or click here.

Double Entry and Multiple Entry Visas.
Some itineraries might involve entering a country, leaving, and then later re-entering the same country. In such a case, you will require a double-entry or multiple-entry visa.
When contacting a foreign consular representative, make sure to describe your itinerary clearly.

      Types of Visa
There are two types of visas, single entry and East Africa Tourist Visa. Please find your tour below to ensure you purchase the correct one.

      Single Entry eVisa:
The eVisa costs $51 and must be obtained in advance. You will await approval via email (approx. 2 days), then download and print the eVisa to be presented upon entry to Kenya. The eVisa is valid for 3 months before travel.

      East Africa Tourist Visa:
The East Africa Tourist Visa costs $101 and must be obtained in advance. This will allow travelers to enter Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda multiple times.
You will await approval via email (approx. 2 days), then download and print the eVisa to be presented upon entry to Kenya. The eVisa is valid for 3 months before travel.

Please note:  The East Africa Tourist Visa can be used as a multi-entry visa for Kenya.

      FLIGHT BOOKING

Flight Preparation to Kenya from the USA.
Flights from New York City to Nairobi: JFK to NBO. The fastest direct flight from New York City to Nairobi takes 14 hours and 20 minutes.
The flight distance between New York City and Nairobi is 7,351 miles.

However, several airlines offer itineraries to Kenya, and their bookings are all available online for your convenience. Your discretion in choosing which to use is allowed.

Always ensure that you reconfirm the Flight.

      Luggage & Packing
Checked bags are typically limited to a total dimension of 62 inches by adding length + width + height (example: 26"+26"+10" = 62”) and a maximum weight of 50 lbs (23kg).

      Carry on, Luggage.
We urge you to pack the items you would be without if your checked bags were lost in your carry-on bag. Prescription medications, eyeglasses, a change of clothes, a mobile phone and charger, valuables (including jewelry and cash), a passport, keys, insurance cards, and local contact information are a few things to remember.

Additionally, we advise you to pack a change of clothing in your carry-on suitcase if your luggage is delayed or misplaced.

      DESTINATION INFORMATION

      Arrive On Time.
You should plan to check in at least three hours before the scheduled departure time for international flights and two hours prior to the scheduled departure time for domestic flights due to additional security checks.

      Connecting Passengers.
Connecting passengers from other US locations should check their bags at their final destination. Some airlines do not permit the "interlining" of checked bags; each destination flight's luggage is checked separately.

      Destination Landing and Eventual Departure.
Please finish all immigration procedures upon arrival and retrieve your bags. Check your voucher for detailed instructions if your program involves airport arrival shuttles, as they differ depending on the destination.

      Transfer.
We kindly suggest that you give our representative 30 minutes extra time from the time of your booked transfer due to local traffic and other unavoidable situations.
Transfers to and from the airport are included. You shouldn't worry about being late for your tour because such potential delays are considered when booking transfers.

      During Game Safaris.
Ensure to pack your items in a soft-sided duffel bag and pack lightly due to the constrained space in safari vehicles. Using conventional luggage with rigid frames or hard plastic panels is not recommended.
Please be aware that there is an environmental prohibition on single-use plastic bags.

      YOUR TOUR INFORMATION.

      Tour Vehicles.
Expect to spend most of the time driving over roads that are often rough and bumpy in safari vehicles that are not air-conditioned.
Safari vehicles have high ground clearance and require agility to embark and disembark.

Tour journey in the Destination Country.
The number of participants on your trip may change as we accommodate visitors at various points along the schedule.
There are many early mornings. Only "bush toilets" are available during game drives.

      Overland Sightseeing.
There is a required seat rotation policy on our Customized Tour Vehicles, which your Tour Manager will coordinate to ensure that travelers on tour-guided safaris have a positive and equitable experience.

      Independent Activities.
The schedule might suggest things to do in your free time, but this is not a recommendation or an endorsement of any particular vendor.
Participation in such activities should only be decided upon voluntarily and carefully.

      Souvenir Shopping.
Most tourists like to bring back at least one memento from their travels.  Our Escorted itinerary has included a few shopping pit stops at suggested locations. These stops are intended to improve your experience by allowing you to inspect high-quality, locally-made goods that you might not be able to locate on your own.

      Gratuities.
Tipping is always an individual decision.
      Suggested Tipping: Kenya
Safari Driver/Guide: US$ $10 per person per day
Hotel porters and wait staff: At your discretion.

      ABOUT ACCOMMODATION & MONEY

      About Your Accommodations.
Each hotel is chosen carefully, considering its overall quality, location, cost, food, service, and cleanliness. Standard twin-bedded (two single beds) rooms with private bathrooms are available in every room. Many accommodations are built in the traditional local style and have no air-conditioning. Some of our tours require walking or stairs between tents. During this tour, you may come close to wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable.

Unless otherwise specified, choosing a room is always completely up to the hotel's management on a run-of-house basis.

      Electricity in Safari Camps.
Some camps and lodges rely on generators to supply electricity, which may not always be available. Travelers using power-dependent devices must inform the travel manager in advance so that arrangements can be made to keep them plugged in through the night.

      Electricity Specification
Please note: The U.S. uses 120 volts, and you can purchase a converter and transformer at most hardware stores for your 120V appliances.
Kenya - The voltage used is 220/240 volts, 3-pin square (UK standard)
Tanzania - The voltage used is 230 volts, 3-pin square (UK standard).

      Hotel Check-in/ Check-out.
Hotel check-in times are typically after 4:00 p.m., and check-out times are before midday. Hotels will typically let you store your stuff in their luggage room if you plan on arriving early or leaving late. If the hotel can check you in earlier or let you stay later, inquire at the front desk.

      Currency.
Before you leave your country, we advise that you get a small quantity of currency for the first country you'll be visiting. A smart strategy is to avoid carrying too much cash.
ATMs accept most ATM cards in many countries, but only dispense in the local currency.

      Credit Cards
Even while credit cards are generally accepted, having local cash on hand is still a good idea. Let your credit card issuer know you will be traveling to prevent your card from being stopped for security concerns.

      ABOUT YOUR HEALTH

      Staying Healthy While Traveling
All travelers should familiarize themselves with local conditions, such as high altitude or required immunizations, which could affect their health. We recommend you consult with your healthcare provider, the Centers for Disease Control (www.cdc.gov), and/or the World Health Organization (http://www.who.int/en/) for their recommendations.

      Health Checks.
Visitors to Kenya must carry proof of yellow fever vaccination if traveling through or from a country with a risk of yellow fever, and are encouraged to consult their healthcare providers regarding malaria prophylaxis.
Before signing up for this tour, we suggest you check with your healthcare provider.

      COMMUNICATION

      Mobile Phones
Mobile networks differ from country to country. We recommend you check with your provider to see if your wireless plan will work in the destination(s) you are visiting.
